Drive to improve students’ lives
This seems obvious, but not all teachers choose to become teachers because they like kids – some do so in spite of not really liking them much, and that makes the job difficult and impacts on their effectiveness. It may even impact on children’s well-being.
Think back to your own education – could you tell when a teacher seemed to like children and enjoy being in your company? Or when a teacher seemed not to? What were the signs, and how were they different from simply being either cheerful or grumpy
